Binny Sharma suicide case: HC grants interim bail to husband Gurmeet and his mother

Jaipur: IAAS officer Gurpreet Singh Walia and his mother Ravinder Kaur obtained interim bail from the Rajasthan high court in connection with the suicide of IRS officer Binny Sharma.

Both are accused of instigating Binny Sharma to commit suicide. The court will hear the case on October 8.

The court said that both the accused are willing to cooperate in the investigation so they were granted interim bail.
IAAS Gurpreet Singh and Binny Sharma got married on October 30, 2010. Binny and Gurpreet both worked in Mumbai for nearly six years, but when their relationship turned sour, Binny got herself transferred to Jaipur. They both were government employees. Later, Husband Gurpreet took a transfer to Chandigarh.

The applicants in their bail application said that Binny blocked her husband Gurpreet’s number and they had not been in talking terms for seven months before the suicidal incident happened. By considering these points, the applicants should be granted bail, the applicants argued.

Advocate Mohit Balwada on behalf of the petitioner Chandramohan Sharma, father of Binny Sharma said that the accused didn’t cooperate with the police investigation as they couldn’t be found for 30 days after the incident happened.

Binny’s Father Chandramohan Sharma reportedly provided the police with CCTV footages showing Gurpreeet Walia abusing his wife earlier.

Binny had committed suicide in the first week of August and left a suicide note. An FIR under section 306 of IPC was registered against Gurpreet Walia and his mother on the basis of the suicide note and the family members’ allegations. Binny Sharma was a deputy commissioner in the IRS and GST department and was posted in Jaipur and her husband Gurpreet Walia is posted as IAAS officer in Chandigarh.
