Bhankrota: 5-year-old girl dies in road accident

Jaipur: A 5-year-old girl was mowed down by a truck after she fell off the bike that her father was riding in Bhankrota area on Ajmer Road on Sunday evening. The girl was riding pillion. According to eyewitnesses, the bike lost balance due to a pothole on the road. The girl fell off the bike and was run over by the truck. She died on the spot.
The locals have complained about potholes on this road many times in the past, but the administration has not paid any heed. The locals said that many road accidents have taken place due to potholes.
The girl, identified as Saijal, was on her way to her maternal grandparents’ house with her father Babu Lal Bhati. Babu Lal is a resident of Phagiwala Rainwal.
The mishap occurred on Mahapura Turn. The girl was riding pillion holding her father. When the bike lost balance, she fell off and was run over by the truck. The truck driver was Ramraj was arrested by the police. The truck was seized and an FIR was registered against the driver for rash driving.
“Many mishaps have taken place due to speed breakers and pothols on this road. There are no reflectors on the speed breakers and as there are no street lights, bikers can’t see breakers. They lost balance, leading to such tragic accidents,” said a local resident who rushed to the spot after the mishap.
The police have launched an investigation.
