Jaipur: Mahesh Nagar police arrested a BDS student for honey trapping a businessman and then trying to extort Rs 15 lakh from him. The student threatened to implicate him in a bogus rape case. She in fact registered an FIR accusing him of rape. She demanded the money to withdraw the case against him. The police are searching for the girl’s friend, identified as Shakti Singh – who is said to be the son of an IAS officer. The police however didn’t officially confirm it.
The accused girl was identified Pragati Choudhary who is pursuing BDS from a private medical college situated on Ajmer Road. She belongs to Rewari area.
“She registered an FIR with Mahesh Nagar police station against the businessman on December 10. The trader also lodged an FIR accusing the girl of extortion and fraud. It came up during investigation that the girl demanded Rs 5 lakh to turn hostile in the rape case. The girl told him that if he paid pay Rs 5 lakh, she would change her section 164 statements to be registered before a magistrate,” SHO Mahesh Nagar Balaram was quoted as saying.
The girl demanded Rs 2.5 lakh before the statements and the remaining amount later.
The businessman recorded the calls made by the girl and her boyfriend and then produced it before the police. The Mahesh Nagar police arrested the girl, while have launched a search for Shakti Singh.
