ATM theft grab on CCTV
Jaipur: Two men allegedly siphoned Rs 38,000 from a cash deposit machine at a bank ATM kiosk in the Manak Chowk area of the city by tampering with the CDM sensor using a matchstick, completing the operation in roughly five minutes before fleeing the spot, police said.
The incident took place on the evening of April 2, 2026, at around 7:30 pm. According to police, the two accused walked into the kiosk, approached the cash deposit machine and inserted a matchstick into the CDM in a manner that disrupted its sensor, allowing them to pull out cash from the machine.
Manak Chowk SHO Rakesh Khyaliya said the duo had specifically targeted the cash deposit machine inside the kiosk. After interfering with the sensor through the matchstick, the accused withdrew Rs 38,000 from the CDM and fled, the SHO said, adding that the entire act was completed in about five minutes.
The shortage came to light only when bank staff carrying out a cash check found that the deposit machine held less money than it should have. Bank manager Amit subsequently lodged a written complaint at Manak Chowk police station on Thursday afternoon, on the basis of which an FIR has been registered.
Police teams have launched raids to trace the two accused, both of whom were captured by the CCTV camera installed inside the ATM booth. Investigators are using the footage as the primary lead in the search.
