Assembly election in Ramgarh constituency of Alwar on Jan 28; dates announced

According to the schedule, the polling will be held on January 28 from 8 am to 5 pm and the results will be out on February 2.

Jaipur: The Election Commission (EC) has announced the dates for the assembly elections in the Ramgarh constituency of Alwar district in Rajasthan. The assembly election was postponed in the constituency after the sudden death of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate Laxman Singh before the assembly elections in December, 2018.

According to the schedule, the polling will be held on January 28 from 8 am to 5 pm and the results will be out on February 2.

The date for the scrutiny of the nomination of the candidates is January 11 and the last date for withdrawal of the nomination is January 14.

The Rajasthan assembly elections in rest of the 199 constituencies took place on December 7 and the results were announced on December 11, 2018.

The Congress won 100 assembly seats and formed the government while the BJP won 72 seats. Ashok Gehlot was appointed the chief minister.

The BSP candidate Laxman Singh (62) died of a cardiac arrest on November 29, 2018. He was supposed to contest the election from Ramgarh seat of Alwar district in Rajasthan. Due to Singh’s demise, the election in the constituency was postponed.
