Rajasthan assembly election 2018: BJP to come out with first list of candidates by Sunday

The meeting of the BJP core committee members to decide on the names of the candidates for Rajasthan state assembly election 2018 is being held at the residence of senior party leader Prakash Javdekar in New Delhi.

Jaipur: The meeting of the BJP core committee members to decide on the names of the candidates for Rajasthan state assembly election 2018 is being held at the residence of senior party leader Prakash Javdekar in New Delhi. Sources said that the first list may be out by Sunday evening.

The meeting is being attended by senior Rajasthan leaders including chief minister Vasundhara Raje, Ramlal, Om Mathur, Rajendra Singh Rathore and Ashok Parnami.

The Rajasthan leaders have presented a list of nearly 160 candidates. Sources said that the names of at least 40 candidates have already been finalized.

The core group members will meet BJP national president Amit Shah in the evening who would give the final node to the list. The list will then be presented before the parliamentary board the party. The list may be out by Sunday evening sources said.

Sources added that at least 30 current MLAs from the party won’t get tickets to fight the election this time.

On the other hand, Congress Pradesh screening committee members discussed the names of likely candidates for nearly five hours on Friday. State secretaries were asked to provide their feedback. Both ex-chief minister Ashok Gehlot and state president Sachin Pilot couldn’t attend the meeting that took place in New Delhi.

The meeting continued on Saturday.
