Army recruitment: Rajasthan ATS arrest soldier for defrauding candidates
The accused Vikas Kumar, a resident of Shri Madhopur in Rajasthan was posted in Jammu recently. ATS officials received a tip-off that Vikas is coming to Rajasthan Police Academy (RPA) from Jammu to take money from aspiring candidates in the name of recruitment.

Jaipur: Rajasthan Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) on Monday arrested an army jawan identified Vikas Kumar for taking money from candidates in the name of recruitment in the army. Police have recovered Rs 1 lakh and the names of some candidates in the searches carried out during the accused man’s arrest. He used to take money from candidates and would promise them to get them posted as clerks in the army.
The accused Vikas Kumar, a resident of Shri Madhopur in Rajasthan was posted in Jammu recently. ATS officials received a tip-off that Vikas is coming to Rajasthan Police Academy (RPA) from Jammu to take money from aspiring candidates in the name of recruitment.
The accused took a day off from his duty at Jammu and reached Jaipur.
A team was formed under the supervision of ASP Bajrang Singh to trap the accused. The team arrested the accused Vikas Kumar at RPA red handed and recovered Rs 1 lakh. A copy of the list of candidates was recovered from him.
ATS DIG Prafulla Kumar said that a case was already registered against the accused Vikas Kumar has been arrested for the same crime in the past too. He was booked for taking money in the name of railway recruitments. The police had arrested him and his wife nine years ago regarding the case. But he is still posted in the army. His wife is a constable in CID CB.
The accused was produced in the court on Monday and has been sent to police remand for two days. Further investigation is going on.
