Jaipur: As Jaipur prepares to host the Army Day Parade on January 15, 2026, the city’s police and security agencies have rolled out one of the most extensive security operations seen in recent years. The focus area is Mahal Road, where authorities are enforcing a multi-layered security plan to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the national event.
Three-Tier Security Cover Across a 6-km Stretch
The Jaipur Police Commissionerate has planned a three-layer security arrangement covering nearly 6 square kilometres, stretching from Bombay Hospital to Akshaya Patra along Mahal Road. This zone will effectively function as a high-security corridor on the day of the parade.
The outer security ring will be managed jointly by city police and two companies of the Rajasthan Armed Constabulary. The middle layer will be guarded by paramilitary forces, while the innermost and most sensitive security zone will remain under direct control of the Indian Army.
Officials said this layered approach is meant to prevent unauthorised access at multiple checkpoints and allow quick response to any potential threat.
50000 People Verified in One Week
In the run-up to the parade, police have conducted an intensive verification drive in the surrounding residential and commercial areas. Over the past seven days, more than 50,000 residents, workers and staff members living or working within the security zone have been verified.
For this exercise, around 500 police personnel were deployed in dedicated teams. The verification includes tenants, domestic helpers, shop employees and contractual workers, with strict instructions issued to housing societies, malls and trade associations to ensure compliance.
Traffic Restrictions and Parking Plan
Special traffic arrangements will remain in force from January 1 to January 15, mainly to facilitate rehearsals and security drills. Every day during this period, traffic on Mahal Road between NRI Circle and Bombay Hospital Circle will remain closed from 5 am to 1 pm.
Parking for authorised vehicles has been designated on Haldighati Marg and Rana Sanga Marg. Commuters have been advised to avoid the area during restricted hours and follow diversion signs placed by traffic police.
No Drones, No Kites During Rehearsals
Authorities have declared the entire parade zone a no-drone area, with a complete ban on flying drones or kites during rehearsals and on the day of the event. Police officials said even recreational kite flying could pose a security risk and will not be permitted.
The responsibility of monitoring compliance with these restrictions has been assigned to senior officers, with Additional DCP Alok Singhal overseeing verification and enforcement efforts.
High-Rise Buildings Under Special Watch
All tall buildings located along and around the parade route have been placed under special surveillance. These buildings will be clearly marked, and Army commandos will be stationed on rooftops, equipped with binoculars and sniper support to monitor activity throughout the event.
Regular flag marches are being conducted in the area under the supervision of local ACPs to familiarise residents with security norms. Public announcements are also being made daily, urging citizens to report any suspicious activity immediately.
Top-Level Monitoring and Coordination
Jaipur Police Commissioner Sachin Mittal confirmed that security rehearsals will intensify from January 1 onwards, coinciding with the start of regular parade practice. Additional Commissioner (Law and Order) Dr. Rajiv Pachar has been appointed as the nodal officer for the entire operation.
At the state level, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has reviewed preparations in a joint meeting with senior Army officials, directing departments to ensure that the event is conducted smoothly and leaves a lasting impression.
Advisory for the Public
Residents living near Mahal Road and adjoining localities have been advised to cooperate with security personnel, carry valid identification, and plan travel in advance during restricted hours. Visitors are encouraged to follow official advisories and avoid restricted zones unless authorised.
