Jaipur: Taking cue from Uttar Pradesh, the Jaipur police commissionerate has constituted an ‘anti-Romeo squad’ to prevent cases of harassment and eve-teasing with women and girls at public places in the city.

The squad will consist of nearly 52 policewomen.

These women cops were recently given a special training at Rajasthan Police Academy on how to deal with cases of eve-teasing at public places.

These policewomen would be provided wireless sets and two-wheelers for quick transportation and communication.

The squad will work in two shifts.

Each of the two teams would be on patrolling in the city for eight hours.

Each team will be in contact with concerned police station and the police control room.

The squad will be deputed at girls colleges, schools, malls and crowded places in the city.

The police commissionerate is all set to roll out the drive from Monday.

It will be the first of its kind of vigilance in Rajasthan.

Police of various districts in Uttar Pradesh had constituted similar an-Romeo squads to deal with cases of harassment with girls at public places.
