Jaipur: BJP national president Amit Shah said in Jodhpur city of Rajasthan on Friday that the Congress was spearheading baseless propaganda against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) for political mileage, so his party would not bow to the opposition and back out. Shah was addressing a public awareness rally in Jodhpur.

“The land of Marwad has never bowed to enemies. We too don’t intend to bow to those who are indulging in a baseless propaganda against CAA. We will not back out even if the entire opposition comes together,” Shah said.

He added that those who want to gain undue political edge are protesting against CAA.

“We are ready to explain to the people that this law is not to take away citizenship, but to give shelter to the refugees who are being harassed in the name of religion in other countries. I challenge all the opposing parties to have a debate over the CAA,” said Shah.

He said that the Congress has been promoting religion-based divide and rule politics since Independence. The number of minorities is decreasing in Pakistan and Bangladesh very fast because they are being harassed in the name of religion in these countries, Shah added.

“We are launching a nation-wide public awareness campaign to raise awareness about the CAA. We will conduct over 500 rallies across the country,” Shah said.
