Another tigress found dead in Ranthambore national park

Jaipur: The body of a tigress was found in Ranthambore national park. The carcass was spotted by forest workers in the Goth Bihari Forest area of Khandar range. The 15-month-old tigress had injury marks on her face, stomach and other body parts. Based on these injuries and the dead body of a prey lying nearby, the park authorities suspect that the tigress was killed after a fight with another tiger over the prey.
“It’s possible that tigress got into a conflict with another tiger as there is the movement of T-74 and T-38 in the area. Wound marks were found at many places on the body including the mouth, stomach and legs of the cub,” said a forest department official.
After getting the information about the dead body, forest officials reached the spot and sent the body for a postmortem examination. The tigress was cremated after conducting a post-mortem of by a 3-member medical board. It’s the second incident of a tiger’s death in Ranthambore in a span of just one month.
On May 13, the body of tigress T-61 was found in the forest area of Jamoda Nala of Zone 7 of Ranthambore.
“The body of female cub of tigress T-69 has been found in Gothbihari forest area. Prima facie, it seems the incident happened due to a conflict with another tiger. We are waiting for the post-mortem report before confirming the cause of death,” said the officer.
