Announcement over new Rajasthan chief minister soon; Rahul Gandhi holds talks with Gehlot and Pilot

The oath ceremony for the chief minister will be conducted at Raj Bhavan in Jaipur on Friday. The official’s announcement by Congress President Rahul Gandhi can be made around noon.

Jaipur: The suspense and drama over who will be appointed the new chief minister of Rajasthan is yet to come to an end Sources say that the announcement on the chief minister may be made by afternoon on Friday.

According to sources, the oath ceremony for the chief minister will be conducted at Raj Bhavan in Jaipur on Friday. The official’s announcement by Congress President Rahul Gandhi can be made around noon.

After the last meeting at Rahul Gandhi’s resident around 5 pm on Thursday, both the leaders Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot left his house.

Ashok Gehlot’s name was finalized for the top post. The internet was flooded with the news of Ashok Gehlot becoming the new CM of Rajasthan. In fact, his supporters reached his residence in Jaipur and started celebrations.

Whereas, Sachin Pilot’s supporters staged a protest at Dausa, Karauli, Sawai Madhopur and Tonk demanding that the PCC chief be appointed as the new chief minister.

Rashtriya Lok Tantrik Party leader Hanuman Beniwal and state president of NSUI Abhimanyu Poonia released their statements saying that if Ashok Gehlot was appointed as chief minister, they would protest and wouldn’t support the party.

Some Independent MLAs including Ramkesh Meena, Babulal Nagar, Mahadev Singh Khandela jumped in favour of Ashok Gehlot demanding his appointment for the post and threatened of protest against the Congress if it didn’t happen.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi again called Ashok Gehlot to his residence late evening to discuss over the matter. Gehlot was at Delhi airport and about to leave for Jaipur when he was summoned.

Rahul Gandhi also met PCC chief Sachin Pilot on Thursday night. Sachin Pilot tweeted and requested media not to spread unauthentic rumors as the official decision had not been announced.

Congress officials informed media that the official announcement and oath ceremony will take place by noon on Friday.
