The family members are refusing to cremate Anandpal’s body even nine days after the gangster was killed in a police encounter in Churu. They are demanding a CBI probe. They said that the last rites would be performed only after this demand was met.

The administration and police fear that the situation may become explosive as the body has nearly decomposed.

Internet services had been barred in Nagaur and Churu districts on June 30 for 48 hours. The restriction has been extended for another 24 hours.

The ban has been put in place to prevent the spread of rumors on social media about the police encounter of Anandpal Singh. The administration officials said that these rumors have become a threat to law and order situation.

As per the powers vested under the section 144 of IPC, the district magistrate has banned internet services, bulk SMS, MMS, WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter and other social media channels, the order reads.

Rumours on social media have become a major headache for the police and district administration.

Fake audio and videos have gone viral on social media channels since the encounter of Anandpal Singh on June 24.

The police have arrested more than 100 people for violence, disrupting peace and disrupting government work in the past six days.

A man had been arrested in Jodhpur for spreading rumors on social media.

Senior Rajput community leaders including Lokendra Singh Kalavi also reached the spot.

A cavalcade of vehicles reached Sanwrad as many Rajput community leaders were accompanying Kalvi.

Heavy police force has been deployed in the village to keep an eye on the law and order situation.

The police have also imposed section 144 of CrPC to ban gathering of five or more people.

More than 120 people have been arrested in connection with clashes with the police and disrupting peace.

Postmortem examination of the body has been conducted twice, but the family members have refused to relent unless their demand for CBI probe was met.

Anandpal’s two daughters are leading the agitation.
