Alwar PWD executive engineer caught taking Rs 25,000 bribe by ACB for issuing NOC to petrol pump

Jaipur: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Sunday arrested Krishna Avtar Gupta, currently posted as Executive Engineer (TA) in the office of the Superintending Engineer, Public Works Department (PWD), Alwar, while accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 from a complainant for issuing a no-objection certificate (NOC) for a petrol pump.

According to the ACB, the complainant had received a Letter of Intent (LOI) from Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) in the name of his elder brother’s son to set up a petrol pump on Lakshmangarh Road, State Highway 44, in village Barkheda. To process the LOI and clear the file for the NOC required to set up the pump, the accused engineer allegedly demanded Rs 40,000 and was harassing the complainant for the amount, the ACB said.

The complaint was made at ACB Chowki Alwar I, where the demand was verified on May 1, 2026. During verification, the accused allegedly accepted Rs 10,000 from the complainant and reiterated the demand for the remaining Rs 25,000, the agency said.

On Sunday, a trap was laid under the supervision of Bhuvan Bhushan, Deputy Inspector General of Police (IV), and led by Shabbir Khan, Deputy Superintendent of Police and in-charge of ACB Chowki Alwar I. The accused engineer was caught red-handed accepting the Rs 25,000 bribe from the complainant, the ACB said.

According to a press note issued by the office of the Director General of Police, ACB, Govind Gupta, questioning of the accused and further proceedings are underway under the supervision of Additional Director General of Police, ACB, Smita Srivastava and Inspector General S. Parimala. A case will be registered under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act and further investigation will be carried out, the agency said.
