Jaipur: At least 12 people were injured when a water tank (high reservoir) built by the Public Health and Engineering Department (PHED) collapsed near Housing Board area at Bhiwadi in Alwar district of Rajasthan on Tuesday morning.

The water take is situated near the court premises. Four people were buried under debris but they were rescued by the police teams after the incident. No causalities have been reported.

Police along with rescue teams rushed to the spot and rushed the injured people to hospital. Their treatment is going on.

Heavy damage has been caused to the properties on the court premises.

According to the police, the water tank at the housing board sector in Bhiwadi was built recently. The water supply into the tank started for the first time on Monday night. Suddenly, the tank collapsed in the morning after it was completely filled to its capacity of 4.25 lakh liters.

The incident put a question mark over the construction quality of the newly built water tank by the water supply department of Alwar.

Panic gripped the locality when the incident happened at around 8:30 am.

A huge crowd of people gathered on the spot. The rescue teams were removing the debris from the place. Further investigation is going on, said police officer.
