Accident insurance policy benefits for Rajasthan University (RU) students increased

Jaipur: If you are a student of Rajasthan University (RU), you can get benefits of a personal accident insurance policy by paying just Rs 40 at the time of enrollment. The policy has now been made more lucrative for students as the insurance benefit has been increased to a maximum of Rs 5.5. The amount was earlier Rs 5 lakh.
What the policy basically means is that a student of Rajasthan University or his or her family members are paid an insurance amount of up to Rs 5.5 lakh if he or she gets injured or dies in a road accident.
The decision to increase the insurance benefit was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by RU vice chancellor RK Kothari.
The policy had been launched in 2005. Nearly 40 students have benefited from the policy. A total amount of Rs 70 was released to students who got into road accidents.
Here are the benefits of accident insurance policy for Rajasthan University students:
- Rs 2.75 lakh are paid to student in case of damage to one part of the body in a road accident.
- Rs 5.5 lakh are paid to student in case of damage to multiple body parts or in case of deaths in a road accident.
- Rs 40,000 are paid to the student who is admitted to a hospital covered under the policy 24 hours or more after the accident.
