ACB trap: JK Lon Hospital Kota superintendent arrested for taking Rs 50,000

JAIPUR: Rajasthan anti-corruption bureau on Friday arrested Dr Heeralal Meena, posted as the superintendent of Kota’s biggest children’s hospital JK Lon after he was allegedly caught taking a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a contractor who carried out construction work at the hospital.
Meena has been booked under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and searches are going on at several places belonging to him including his house in the Galta Gate area in Jaipur.
DG ACB BL Soni said that ACB’s Kota branch received a complaint against Dr Meena. “In the complaint, the contractor stated that his firm had carried out some work at the hospital. A payment of Rs 30 lakh was to be made to him for this work,” said Soni.
He added that Dr Meena was demanding a bribe of Rs 1.70 lakh to approve the payment.
The complaint was verified under the supervision of ACB Kota SP Alok Srivastava and when it was found to be genuine, a trap was laid by a team consisting of ACB inspector Ajit Bagdolia.
Dr Meena was arrested after he was caught red-handed taking Rs 50,000 from the ACB complainant.
“He was taken into custody and later arrested under the PC Act. We are carrying out searches at his office, his residence in Kota and his house in Galta Gate area. Further investigation is going on,” said the officer.
