Jaipur: The Rajasthan anti-corruption bureau (ACB) has arrested an Ameen and two middlemen deputed in JDA’s Chitrakoot zonal office after they were allegedly caught taking a bribe of Rs 10,000.

The ameen, identified as Bajrang Lal Mehra, is a contractual employee currently deputed in JDA. He was demanding bribe from a retired colonel through two middlemen, senior ACB officers said. The trio was arrested and booked under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

According to DG, ACB BL Soni, the ACB complainant had applied for a land deed for a piece of land in Chitrakoot’s Bankers Colony at JDA’s Chitrakoot office. He alleged that ameen Bajrang Lal and two members of the vikas samiti – identified as Ram Singh and Badri Singh – were demanding Rs 10,000 per deed and harassing him when he refused to pay. The ACB initiated a probe and launched an investigation. The trio claimed that there were 45 plots under the vikas samiti and all the owners were paying them the same amount per deed.

The complaint was verified under the supervision of ASP, ACB Narottam Varma. The ACB officials said that Bajrang Lal, Ram Singh and Badri Singh were arrested after they were caught taking the bribe amount. Ram Singh is said to be a retired ASI. The ACB trap created scare among other employees in the office. Many left the office and didn’t show up till evening. Over 250 contractual employees work in this zonal office of JDA.
