ACB trap in Jalore: Engineer, middleman arrested for accepting Rs 28,000 bribe

Jaipur: Rajasthan anti-corruption bureau on Tuesday arrested superintendent engineer of Jodhpur Discom – currently posted in Jalore – Chatar Singh Meena after his middleman, identified as Kantilal was caught red-handed taking a bribe of Rs 28,000 on his behalf. ACB officials said that the engineer was demanding money from a manufacturer for providing a power connection.  Both have been arrested and booked under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Further investigation is going on.

The ACB complainant stated that he had applied for bricks interlocking factory STP connection of 15 HP. For approving the file, the engineer demanded Rs 30,000. After he registered a complaint, the ACB verified it and when found it genuine, a trap was laid. The ACB complainant negotiated the bribe money. Chatarsingh agreed to accept Rs 28,000.

A team led by Add SP, ACB Mahaveer Singh Ranawat organized the trap. On behalf of Chatarsingh, one Kantilal, a resident of Jalore who is a private contractor, was arrested for taking the bribe.

Chatarsingh, a resident of Bhusawar area in Bharatpur, was also arrested. The agency teams are carrying out raids at the residence and other places belonging to him.

DG BL Soni said that people can register an anonymous complaint on toll-free number 1064 or WhatsApp helpline number – 9413502834 if a government employee demands a bribe.
