Jaipur: Rajasthan anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Friday arrested the welfare officer of Social Welfare Board – Baldev Raj – and an NGO owner Rajesh Sharma in a corruption case, ACB said. Rajesh was allegedly giving a bribe of over Rs 20,000 to Baldev Raj when the duo was caught red-handed. Rajesh was offering the bribe to the welfare officer for a favourable inspection report, ACB officials said.

According to DG, ACB BL Soni, the agency got a tip-off that Rajesh Sharma who runs an NOG by the name of Family Council Centre was offering bribe to the welfare officer. The Social Welfare Board had conducted an inspection and Rajesh was offering money to get a favourable inspection report.

“After getting this information, we laid a trap. ASP ACB Bajrang Singh was the trap officer. Baldev Raj and Rajesh Sharma were caught red-handed exchanging the bribe amount of Rs 20,000,” said the officer.

Both were booked under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

“Both offering bribe and accepting one is a legal offense, so both of them were arrested. Further investigation is going on. Searches are being carried out at offices, residences, and other places belonging to them,” said Soni.
