ACB trap in Bhilwara: 3 UIT officials arrested for taking Rs 1 lakh bribe

Jaipur: The Rajasthan anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Thursday arrested three officials of UIT in Bhilwara for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 1 lakh. The three officers, identified as SE Rameshwar Sharma, XEn Santosh Sharda and AEN Bhramlal Sharma were allegedly demanding bribe to approve bills for works undertaken by a contractor.

According to DG, ACB, the trap was organized under the supervision of ADG ACB Dinesh MN. The trap was organized by Add SP Narottam Varma along with Add SP Tonk Vijay Singh Meena.

As per preliminary reports, the three officers were demanding bribe from a contractor who had undertaken UIT work in Bhilwara. The contractor approached the ACB and registered a complaint. The complaint was verified and when it was found genuine, a tap was laid.

While SE Rameshwar Sharma and XEn Santosh Sharda were arrested for taking Rs 75,000, AEN Bhramalal was arrested for taking Rs 25,000 from the contractor. The accused officials had allegedly taken money from the contractor in the past too.

Sources said that trio was being quizzed. They were arrested under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Searches were being carried out at various places including offices and residences belonging to them.
