Jaipur: The ACB on Wednesday arrested two individuals – identified as Kishan Khandelwal and Devendra Singh – for taking a bribe of Rs 2 lakh allegedly on behalf of one Rajan Sharma. Ranjan is the husband of an elected councillor of Ajmer Municipal Corporation. He was allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 40 lakh for permitting ground levelling work being carried out by the ACB complainant. The ACB is carrying out searches at the house and other places belonging to Ranjan, DG ACB BL Soni said.
The ACB complainant whose identity was withheld stated that he was carrying out ground levelling work on an inherited property in Ward Number – 41 of Ajmer. Ranjan started threatening him and demanded Rs 50 lakh. After negotiating, Ranjan agreed to accept Rs 40 lakh, the ACB complainant alleged.
The agency verified the complaint and when found it genuine, a trap was laid under the supervision of SP, ACB Sameer Kumar Singh.
