ACB trap: ASI arrested taking bribe of Rs 20,000 in Bharatpur

Jaipur: The Rajasthan anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Wednesday arrested an ASI – posted as incahrge of a police outpost in RBM Hospital of Bharatpur after he was allegedly caught red-handed taking a bribe of Rs 20,000. The officer was demanding money to weaken the case registered against the family members of the ACB complainant. The ACB booked the ASI under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

According to DG ACB BL Soni, the Bharatpur unit of the agency received a complaint that ASI Ramveer Singh was demanding a bribe. The complainant stated that his family members had registered a case against some people. These people also registered an FIR against the complainant’s family members. Ramveer Singh demanded Rs 20,000 to file a chargesheet against the opposing party and weaken the case against the complainant’s family members.

Add SP of ACB Mahesh Meena verified the complaint and when it was found genuine, a trap was laid by police inspector Shravan Kumar and his team. Ramveer Singh, a resident of Kumher area in Bharatpur, was caught red-handed accepting the bribe money from the complainant. He was taken into custody and booked.

Searches are being carried out at the residence and other places belonging to the accused police officer. Further investigation is going on.
