Jaipur: Rajasthan anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Thursday took SHO of Narayanpur police station Jitendra Yadav into custody for interrogation after a middleman was caught red-handed taking a bribe of Rs 90,000 allegedly on the officer’s behalf on Thursday. SHO Jitendra Yadav had taken a man into custody without booking him. He allegedly demanded money from the man’s relative to release him, ACB officials said.

ACB Add SP Mahendra Meena said that one Krishna Kumar Yadav, a resident of Jhunjhunu, lodged a complaint against Jitendra Yadav. Krishan Yadav’s cousin Sandeep had been taken into custody in a case. Both were brought to Narayanpur police station.

“SHO demanded a bribe of Rs 1 lakh to release Sandeep and not take any action against him. The SHO asked the complainant to pay the bribe to one Balbeer Singh Yadav. The complaint was verified by the ACB and when it was found genuine, a trap was laid,” said the officer.

ACB complainant negotiated and agreed to pay Rs 90,000. The middleman was caught red-handed accepting the bribe. The ACB officials said that interrogation with SHO is going on. An FIR under relevant section of the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered.
