ACB trap: Add chief engineer of Rajasthan Housing Board in Jaipur arrested for taking bribe

Jaipur: The Rajasthan anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Wednesday arrested additional chief engineer deputed in Rajasthan Housing Board in Jaipur – Manoj Gupta – after he was allegedly caught taking a bribe of RS 25,000. He was demanding register a housing project under economically weaker section (EWS) category. The ACB has registered an FIR under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Further investigation is going on.
According to DG ACB Dr Alok Tripathi, the ACB complainant stated that he applied for his housing project to be registered under the EWSD-1 category. Additional chief engineer Manoj Gupta demanded a bribe of Rs 25,000 from him, said Tripathi. He added that after registering the complaint, ACB laid a trap. At the behest of the ACB, the complainant negotiated the bribe amount following which Gupta allegedly agreed to do the work for Rs 25,000.
The trap was laid under the supervision of ADG, ACB Dinesh MN. The trap officer was ACB add SP (Jaipur rural) Narottam Verma.
Gupta was caught taking the bribe amount of Rs 25,000 following which he was arrested. He would be produced in a court on Thursday. ACB was carrying out searches at his house, office and other places belonging to him till the reports last came in.
