ACB searches at Pollution Control Board officer’s house unearths properties worth crores

Two officials of Rajasthan Pollution Control Board who were trapped by ACB on Thursday.

Jaipur: A day after regional officer XEn posted in Rajasthan Pollution Control Board Sanjay Kothari and his subordinate officer AEE Jogeshwar Sharma were arrested for taking bribe, the Rajasthan ACB carried out searches at Kothari’s house and other places and allegedly unearthed wealth worth crores of rupees.

Kothari owns a house in Jawahar Nagar of Jaipur. Here are some of the assets allegedly recovered by the ACB:

  • Plot in Jawahar Nagar
  • Flat in Jawahar Nagar
  • Plot in Mahaveer Nagar
  • 17 plots in the name of relatives in Sanganer Vatika
  • 2.50 hectare land in Sanganer
  • Plot in Narayan City
  • Two commercial plots in Mansarovar
  • Jewellery wroth Rs 3 lakh
  • Rs 2 lakh cash
  • 16 bank accounts
  • 10 insurance policies
  • Bank locker

“Some of these properties are registered in the name of his family members,” said a senior ACB officer.

ACB had arrested Sanjay Kothari – regional officer XEn posted in Rajasthan Pollution Control Board and AEE Jogeshwar Sharma after they were allegedly caught taking a bribe of Rs 30,000.

The ACB teams are also carrying out searches at the house belonging to AEE Jogeshwar Sharma. The house is located in Gurjar Ki Thadi area.

ACB DG Alok Tripathi said that a crasher owner approached the agency and lodged a complaint against Sanjay Kothari and Jogeshwar Sharma.

“The complainant told us that they were demanding Rs 50,000 to issue a CTO (Consent To Operate) for his crasher,” said the officer.

Under the supervision of Add SP ACB Chanchal Mishra, the complaint was verified. When it was found genuine, a trap was laid, he said.
