ACB books Niwai SDM for demanding bribe; recovers Rs 30,000 from office

Jaipur: The Rajasthan anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Tuesday booked Niwai SDM Jagdish Prasad for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 50,000. The ACB trap team recovered Rs 30,000 from his office, senior officials said. They added that the SDM was demanding the bribe in a land-related case.
The ACB had laid a trap after receiving a complaint against him. The agency verified the complaint and then laid a tap. When the ACB complainant handed over the bribe amount to Jagdish Prasad, he asked the complainant to put the money in a file, the ACB officials said adding that the SDM didn’t want touch the bribe money.
“The ACB complainant told us that a land-related dispute was being heard by the Niwai SDM so the trap was laid. We verified the complaint and found it genuine. A team was sent to Niwai under the supervision of ACB ASP Alok Sharma,” said an ACB officer.
The officer added that the SDM has been booked under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and further investigation is going on. Niwai is a town in Tonk district of Rajasthan.
