JAIPUR: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Thursday fielded Narendra Yadav for the president post in the Rajasthan University (RU) student union elections 2022.
Finding the right candidate for the president post had become a challenge for ABVP because most popular leaders were ineligible to contest elections following the guidelines issued by the university syndicate recently.
ABVP finalized Narendra Yadav’s name at the last moment after the Rajasthan high court’s decision in this regard. Yadav is a fourth-semester post-graduate student at the university.
The court has allowed those student leaders whose results of the PG entrance exam have not been announced. The court, however, refused to entertain the student’s plea about relaxation in the age limit and allowing ex-students to contest the elections.
Judge Mahendra Goyal gave this order on Thursday on the petitions filed by Arvind Jajra, Rajendra Gora, Narendra Yadav, Dharamvir Singh and others.
The Rajasthan University University on Thursday published. The list contains 21500 voters consisting of those studying in university as well as constituent colleges including Maharaja College, Maharani College, Rajasthan College and Commerce College. The university has sought objections on the list. The final voter list will be published on August 20. The constituent and law colleges have about 15,500 voters. Apart from this, there are about 6,000 voters in the university.
The number of voters in the constituent colleges of Rajasthan University is as follows:
- Rajasthan University: 3036
- Maharani College: 4940
- Commerce College: 3516
- Maharaja College: 2128
