800-gram gold concealed in rectum seized at Jaipur airport; Sharjah passenger arrested

Jaipur: The customs department took a passenger, who arrived at Jaipur International Airport on an Air Arabia flight from Sharjah, into custody after he was found in possession of unaccounted gold weighing 791 grams. The passenger had concealed the gold in his rectum. The gold is worth about Rs 43 lakh in the international market.
A customs official said that the passenger who arrived by Air Arabia Flight No. G9435 from Sharjah at 5.15 AM on Friday, was intercepted due to his suspicious behaviour. He was quizzed, but he could not provide any satisfactory explanation. The passenger also denied making any concealment of prohibited items but he looked suspicious from his gestures, therefore customs team decided to search him, the official said.
“During a personal search of the passenger, yellowish granules paste packed in three transparent polyethylene capsules wrapped by white polythene were found. It was concealed inside the rectum,” the officer added.
The gold of 99.50% purity weighted 791 grams and valued at Rs 42,79,310 was extracted from the paste. It was seized under the provisions of the Customs Act, 1962. The accused was being arrested, the officer said. He added that further investigation is going on.
