8 arrested for creating ruckus over rape with 7-year-old girl in Shastri Nagar

Jaipur: The city police have arrested eight people for creating ruckus and damaging public and private properties in the name of protest against Shastri Nagar rape incident. These people were in the crowd when the local residents were staging protest demanding arrest of the culprit who raped the 7-year-old girl on July 1. The police have identified nearly 30 more people on the basis of CCTV footages. Searches are being carried out to nab these people.
Over 200 cars and other private properties were damaged by some people in the name of protest. The victims whose properties were damaged were demanding arrest of these people. FIRs had also been registered.
Those who were arrested on Wednesday include Dawood Khan, Mohammed Riyaz, Shahrukh Khan, Sajid Ahmed Qureshi and Mohammed Zafar Hussain. All of them are residents of Nahari Ka Naka. They were produced in a court that remanded him in judicial custody.
Some BJP MLAs had recently raised the issue in the state assembly and accused the Congress of giving anti-social elements a free rein to create ruckus and cause communal disharmony in the name of protest.
Meanwhile, an identification parade was conducted at Jaipur Central Jail in which the 7-year-old victim identified Sikandar as the man who abducted and raped her.
He raped two girls in Shastri Nagar and Nahargarh within a period of just 8 days, causing widespread protests and communal tension in the city.
