Jaipur: Here is some great news for Rajasthan government employees. The Rajasthan government on Tuesday implemented the seventh pay commission, in a Diwali gift to its workers.

More than 12 lakh employees and pensioners will benefit from the implementation of the 7th pay commission. They will get the increased pay with their October salary.

Chief minister Vasundhara Raje wished government employees on the occasion of Dhanteras and said that the government had promised to implement 7th pay in 2017-18 budget. The government has now fulfilled its promise, she said.

The DC Sawant Committee has been empowered to examine matters of allowances, discrepancies, arrears etc, Raje informed.

Rajasthan cabinet of ministers had earlier given its approval to the recommendations for the seventh pay scale to the state government employees.

The basic pay of government employees is expected to be increased by 14.22 % while the pension will see a hike of 2.5 percent.

The latest development will have an impact on the salaries of 8, 11,000 thousand state government employees as well as around 3, 54, 000 pensioners. As per estimates, the state government will have to spend around Rs 10,500 crore in salaries and allowances if all the proposals are implemented. The government had constituted the committee for giving recommendations these on February 23 earlier this year.
