7 sentenced to life imprisonment in dowery death case in Alwar

Jaipur: The Additional District & Sessions Judge, Alwar has convicted seven people and sentenced them to life imprisonment in a case related to the murder of a woman for dowry. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had probed the case in compliance with a Rajasthan high court order.

Those who were convicted include Kamruddin, Asri, Imran, Jahira, Samsu, Shahid, and Juber Khan. They were sentenced to life important for murdering one Mehruna for not meeting the demand for dowry.

CBI registered the case in March 2016 in compliance with the directions of the Rajasthan High Court. The court had passed the order for the CBI investigation after hearing a writ petition. The CBI took over the investigation of the FIR earlier registered at Naugawan Police Station in Alwar district against nine accused persons. It was alleged that they murdered Mehruna at Munpur Karmala village in Alwar for not meeting their demands of dowry. 

After the investigation, CBI filed a chargesheet against seven accused along with two juveniles. The Trial Court found the seven accused persons guilty and convicted them. The trial of two juveniles in conflict of law is going on before the Juvenile Justice Board, Alwar.
