Five arrested for Mansarovar robbery and murder of senior cop’s mother-in-law

Jaipur police on Monday arrested five persons including two women in connection with the robbery and murder of 80-year-old mother-in-law of additional SP Sanjeev Bhatnagar near Bhrigu Path in Mansarovar area three days ago. The police have reportedly recovered some of the valuables that the accused men robbed from the house.

Three men among the accused who were arrested.

Jaipur: Jaipur police on Monday arrested five persons including two women in connection with the robbery and murder of 80-year-old mother-in-law of additional SP Sanjeev Bhatnagar near Bhrigu Path in Mansarovar area three days ago. The police have reportedly recovered some of the valuables that the accused men robbed from the house. One of the robbers is visually-impaired.

The robbery took place on Friday night. Three robbers were caught on CCTV breaking into the house 80-year-old Pushpa Bisaria, mother-in-law of Sanjeev Bhatnagar currently posted in Rajasthan special operations group (SOG).

Women who were arrested.

Those arrested are residents of Madhya Pradesh. They were identified as Manish alas Bablu, Channa alias Jony, Badam Singh, Guddi Devi and Nandini. Badam Singh is visually-impaired. After committing the robbery in Jaipur, the same gang of robbers looted another house in Jhunjhunu . They were trying to flee to Madhya Pradesh, but were caught by the police.

Before committing the robbery and murder, the robbers had tried to break into the house of a former Rajasthan high court judge and former cabinet minister Heeralal Indora. When they couldn’t break into their house, they targeted the Bisaria family.

When the robbers were trying to break into the minister’s house, some people in the neighborhood in fact woke up and raised an alarm. They informed the police control room. A police team reached the spot immediately. The robbers managed to loot the Bisaria family despite that.

As the cops faced flak for lethargy in preventing the crime, they launched a massive search for the robbers.

According to preliminary reports, the police have arrested the five persons in connection with the robbery and murder in Mansarovar. Sources said that the women lived in a makeshift colony of tribals in Sikar. One of the robbers was going there to meet them when he and the two women were held.

The robbers were fearless to such an extent that they didn’t take into account the fact that Sanjeev Bhatnagar himself lives in the adjacent house.
