Jaipur: The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has served notices to 65 rooftop restaurants being illegally operated in Jaipur. These restaurants don’t follow building bylaws norms and also don’t have fire fighting and other equipment required to deal with emergency situations such as fire and earthquake, senior JDA officials said.

“We have identified several rooftop restaurants in the city which are operating without any license or permits. They don’t have any fire fighting arrangements in place. The buildings they are being operated in have no parking arrangements. In fact in case of any emergency situations, they don’t have any emergency exits. For these violations, we have served them notices and sought explanation. Strict action will be taken against these rooftop restaurants in Jaipur,” said a senior JDA official.

He added that similar notices were served to coaching institutes in the city. Over 180 notices have been served.

“Most of the coaching institutes are running in residential buildings. They also don’t have fire safety arrangements in place. The parents should verify whether the coaching institutes where they are enrolling their children in are legal and are equipped with fire safety and other arrangements,” said the officer.

The JMC had also recently served notices on some coaching institutes. A coaching institute was recently sealed for violating fire safety norms.
