6-year-old school girl raped, murdered in Rajasthan’s Tonk
Jaipur: Amid uproar over Hyderabad rape and murder case, a 6-year-old school girl was raped and brutally murdered in Rajasthan’s Tonk district. The girl had left home for school in the morning on Friday. Her body was recovered the next morning. The police suspect that she was raped and then strangled to death.
The incident took place in a village of Aligarh area of Tonk. “The girl had gone to school and when she didn’t return till late afternoon, her family members started searching for her. They informed the police. The body was found behind bushes on the roadside near the village the next morning,” said a police officer.
As tension prevailed in the village after the body was recovered, senior police officers including Tonk SP Adarsh Sindhu reached the village and assured the villagers that the culprit would be brought to justice soon.
A postmortem examination of the body was conducted at a government hospital in Tonk. A FSL team collected evidence from the spot.
According to preliminary reports, the rapist may be someone known to the girl who lured her into coming with him on some pretext when she was on her way to school. He used the belt the girl was wearing to strangle her. The police also found liquor bottles lying near the spot where the body was recovered.
A senior police officer said that some suspects have been rounded up. Further investigation is going on.
