Jaipur: Even four months after Mukhyamantri Chiranjeevi Swasthya Bima Yojna was launched, only 56% of the eligible families have signed up for the public health insurance scheme in Jaipur district, according to the government data. Nearly 3.31 lakh families are yet to sign up.

There are 5.85 lakh families in Jaipur district. Of them, 44% are yet to register for the scheme. Cashless health insurance of Rs 5 lakh is provided to the registered family. Despite the aggressive promotion and awareness campaign, the district administration is yet to meet the target.

“The registration is still going on. The family can register for the scheme now, but they will get the benefits from November now,” said an administration official. Those who haven’t signed up include government employees who are already registered for other government medical insurance schemes, he added.

Those who had registered by April 30 got covered from May 1. The scheme was extended by the chief minister when many families couldn’t meet the deadline. Those registered between May 1 and July 31 got covered under the scheme from August 1. Now those who will register between August 1 and October 31 will get the coverage from November 1.

People can register for the scheme online or through an emitra. Those who are not eligible for premium-free registration have to pay a premium of Rs 850.
