4 killed, many injured in tragic mishap on Jodhpur-Barmer highway

The mishap occurred around noon near Bhandu village at Boranada area in Jodhpur. The vehicles were completely damaged in the accident and the victims got stuck.

Jaipur: At least four people were killed, while five others were injured when three vehicles collided in a freak accident on Jodhpur-Barmer highway on Sunday. The injured were admitted to MDM Hospital in Jodhpur where the condition of at least three people is stated to be critical. The accident involved an SUV, a pick-up and a car. The collision was so intense that one of the vehicles caught fire. The mishap occurred around noon near Bhandu village at Boranada area in Jodhpur. The vehicles were completely damaged in the accident and the victims got stuck. The cops with the help of local residents somehow pulled them out. Two of them died on the spot, while two others succumbed to injuries on way to hospital. The accident caused a traffic jam on the highway. The police towed away the vehicles to clear the road block. According to the police, a Scorpio travelling towards Jodhpur went out of control after ramming into an Alto car. It then hit a pick-up. One of the vehicles caught fire. The eye-witnesses were shocked when they saw the collision. They said that no one was killed in the fire, but the collision was so intense that all the people got stuck in the vehicles. The passers-by and other commuters couldn’t approach the vehicles as one of them was on fire. Those who died include a woman. The police are trying to ascertain the identity of the victims.
