35-year-old woman found hanging; Suicide suspected

Jaipur: A 35-year-old woman – said to be the daughter-in-law of Govind Dev Ji temple mahant (priest) Anjan Kumar Goswami – was found hanging from the ceiling of a room in her in-laws’ house on Tuesday. She was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared her brought dead. According to preliminary reports, no suicide note has been recovered from the spot.  The police have launched an investigation.

According to Manak Chowk police, the incident took place in the morning when the mahant of Govind Dev temple Anjan Kumar Goswami and his son Manas Goswami – husband of the victim Nivedita Goswami – had gone to the temple for officiating the morning prayers.

Jyotsna, a maid at the house, arrived there for work around 6 am. Nivedita’s room was locked from the inside. The cleaning lady knocked on the door, but she didn’t get any answer. The woman got suspicious. She called another maid Sulekha. When they peeped through the window, Nivedita was hanging from the ceiling.

The maid informed the neighbors about it. Neighbors entered the room by breaking the door. Nivedita’s body was taken to the hospital. Mahant and his son were also informed. They too reached the hospital.

Nivedita and Manas got married in 2007. The police have sealed the room where Nivedita was found hanging. An FSL team was also called to the spot to collect evidence.
