33 new Coronavirus cases in Rajasthan; highest rise in a day

Jaipur: At least 33 new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) were reported by Friday afternoon in Rajasthan. The majority of people who tested positive on Friday are the members of Tablighi Jamaat or their family members. The total number of cases rose to 166.

Of those who tested positive on Friday, about 24 are in Jaipur and Tonk alone. Two cases were reported in Bikaner, 1 in Dausa and 3 in Udaipur. Three people who were evacuated from Iran were also found infected with the virus.

According to reports, 12 new cases were reported in Jaipur. All of them are members of Tablighi Jamaat and belong to different states of the country. They were admitted to RUHS in Jaipur. Six of them hail from Tamil Nadu, four from Maharashtra and one from Jharkhand. The total number of cases in Jaipur has gone up to 53.

The administration imposed ‘maha-curfew’ in Bhilwara on Friday. The curfew will continue till April 13. All commercial establishments and shops including even dairy booths and medical stores will remain closed during this period. Essential items such as milk and medicines will be home-delivered. No one including media persons and social activists will be allowed to venture out of their homes.

Over 3000 jawans of security forces have been deployed in the town. The administration officials said that the army personnel will be deployed if needed.
