3 arrested for downloading, watching and sharing child pornography in Jaipur

The FIR was registered under various sections of the Information Technology Act and POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses) Act.

Jaipur: The Galta Gate police station in Jaipur has arrested three people for watching and sharing child pornography.

The action was taken on the directions of DCP north and an FIR was registered against three people identified as Sirajuddin, Mohammad Rafi and Akhlaq under different sections of the Information Technology Act and POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses) Act.

DCP North Paris Deshmukh said it came up during the preliminary investigation that the three accused not only watched child pornography but also shared them on social media platforms to make the public.

They were under the surveillance of a unit of the Rajasthan police’s special operations group (SOG) that forwarded this information to the local police following which Galta Gate police took the accused into custody. 

More than 24 people have been arrested so far for downloading, watching and sharing child pornography on social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook. 

A senior police officer said FIRs in such cases are registered under the Information Technology Act and the POCSO Act so that strict punishment could be meted out to offenders. 

Jaipur North district police has registered nearly 12 cases for these offences.
