22-year-old beaten to death by hotel staff in Jaipur; 9 arrested

Jaipur: A 22-year-old youth was brutally murdered in a hotel located near 200-feet Bypass. The incident was caught on a CCTV that went viral on Wednesday. The youth was a guest at the hotel who had an altercation with the hotel staff and some employees of a furniture contractor over the noise in the corridor outside his hotel room. In retaliation, the staff members allegedly beat him to death. The police have arrested nine staff members. Further investigation is going on.

Five of Those arrested by Vaishali Nagar police were hotel staff members, identified as Suresh (29), Prahlad Kumar Balai (25), Aman (22), Ashok (26), Anil Papadda (19). The remaining four were furniture factory workers – Lakhan Bairwa (22), Mukesh Kumar Bairwa (32), Lalchand Bairwa (24) and Mahendra Rao (26). The furniture factory workers were carrying out some work at the hotel. All the accused live in Nand Vihar Colony in Vaishali Nagar.

The victim was identified as Vishal Yadav. Vishal went to the hotel on Sunday night to party with his friends Himanshu Sain, Monu Yadav, Pushpendra, Kanak Vardhan and Manvendra. All the friends were partying in a hotel room. After midnight, Pushpendra and Monu were talking in the hotel corridor outside their room. When the hotel staff intervened and told them to go inside, they had an altercation.

The hotel staff and the furniture workers there attacked the youths with sticks, rods, iron handles and frypen. Soon after the attack, the youths started running away. When Vishal started to get away on his bike, the nine accused ambushed and attacked him. One of the attackers continued to hit Vishal on the head with a frypan until he became unconscious. The attackers fled after Vishal fainted. His friends immediately rushed him to a nearby private hospital where the doctors declared him dead.

Vishal’s family members say that the police have not taken any action against the hotel where this incident happened. They said that Vishal was killed for smoking cigarette.

Rajesh Yadav, brother of the deceased, said that his brother had landed a job in a finance company two days ago.
