Jaipur: Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) has introduced 20 fire fighting bikes at six fire stations of Jaipur including Ghatgate, Mansarovar, Banipark, Malviya Nagar, Sita Pura, and Bais Godam.

The bikes can respond to fire emergencies even in the narrowest lanes of Jaipur. These bikes are equipped with fire extinguishers, water tanker cylinders, first-aid and a lot of other things.

According to JMC officials, the new fire fighting bikes will be an asset for the fire department this Diwali because they will help with fire fighting operations in the narrow lanes of the city.

Large fire fighter vehicles including tenders are not able to enter small and busy lanes during a fire emergency. They also take a lot of time in reaching the spot due to traffic jams.

Fire fighter bikes can reach any spot within a few minutes. By the time fire tenders reach the spot; the bikes can partially control the situation. Also, the bikes can be used for providing first aid treatment.

Diwali festivities are in air and mishaps can happen during Diwali while lighting crackers or Diyas. The bikes have been introduced before Diwali so that the small accidents can be controlled, said the officer.

JMC has set up four control rooms in the city where people can report fire incidents.

To report a fire, one can dial these numbers:

  • Main control room: 0141- 2201898
  • Ghatgate: 0141-2615550
  • Mansarovar: 87648-79778
  • Sitapura: 87648-79779
