2-year-old boy standing in driveway of his home mowed down by father’s car

The father was driving the car out of the house in reverse without realizing that his son was standing in the way.

Jaipur: A two-year-old boy identified as Priyanshu died after he was mowed down by his father’s car at their house near Manda village of Sikar district on Sunday. The father was driving the car out of the house in reverse without realizing that his son was standing in the way.

Priyanshu sustained injuries and rushed to a hospital where he died while undergoing treatment. The police have handed over the body to family members after a post-mortem examination.

According to the police, Mahendra Kumar Verma, a resident of Manda Village of Sikar – was reversing his car around 11 am on Sunday. His two-year-old son Priyanshu was standing in the driveway. Mahendra did not see the child and mowed him down.

After hearing the boy’s cries for help, the father got out of the car and realized what had happened.

He immediately rushed the child to a nearby hospital, however the boy couldn’t be rescued.

The family members are shocked and grieved over the incident. Police are further probing the accident, an officer said.
