2 including 70-year-old man awarded life imprisonment for gang-raping minor girl

Jaipur: A POSCO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses) court in Kota has sentenced two men – one of them 70-year-old and the other 40-year-old – to life imprisonment for raping a minor girl. They will be lodged behind bars till their death.
In a speedy trial, the court held Babulal Mali alias Krishna Murari (70) and Mohit Mali alias Manoj (40) guilty of raping a Class 7 student two years ago. The girl was nearly 13 years old when she was raped. The police found during their investigation that Babulal took the girl to an agriculture farm outside their village in Kota district and then gang raped her. The duo threatened the girl of dire consequences if she reported the matter to anyone.
The girl however mustered courage and told her family members who reported the incident to the police.
“The FIR was lodged under various sections of POSCO Act on May 30, 2017. About 15 witnesses testified during the trial after the police field the chargesheet. The court has sentenced both men to life imprisonment and also slapped a fine of Rs 35,000 on each one of them,” said a prosecution lawyer.
