2 COVID-19 patients treated with plasma therapy at SMS Hospital

Jaipur: SMS Hospital doctors in Jaipur on Wednesday claimed that they have succeeded in curing two Coronavirus (COVID-19) patients using convalescent plasma therapy. The patients in both the cases were experiencing severe virus symptoms and they have been treated 100% with the therapy, the doctors said indicating that convalescent plasma therapy may be effective in treatment of COVID-19. SMS Hospital is the first hospital in the state to treat COVID-19 patient with this experimental therapy.

The case count is increasing at an alarming pace in the state. As many as 82 new cases were reported till Wednesday afternoon. Of them 32 were reported in Jodhpur, 27 in Jaipur, 7 in Pali, 4 in Ajmer, 3 in Jalore, 2 each in Dholpur and Dungarpur and 1 each in Sawai Madhopur, Sikar, Bharatpur, Alwar and Chittogarh. The case count has crossed 3240 in the state. Three more deaths were reported on Wednesday, taking the death toll to 92.

Curfew has been imposed in some more colonies in Sanganer, Galta Gate, Sanjay Circle, Sodala and Muralipura areas of Jaipur after fresh cases were reported.

The colonies include Keshav Vihar Colony, Galta Gate Puliya No.2, Char Darwaja Shah Ka Mahal (all in Sanganer), Khandelwal Marg (Sanjay Circle), Hari Marg (Sodala), and Shiv Nagar – 2 (Muralipura).

Chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday said that the state has suffered revenue loss to the tune of Rs 10,000 crore. The union government will need to extend financial support. Gehlot participated in a video conferencing with interim president of the Congress Sonia Gandhi.
