2 businessmen arrested in Kota and Jaipur for tax evasion of Rs 42 crore

Jaipur: The commercial tax department and CGST arrested two businessmen from Kota and Alwar for the alleged tax evasion of Rs 42 crore. Both the businessmen were produced in a court that remanded them in judicial custody. It is alleged that one of the two businessmen showed bogus entries of inward and outward supplies to evade taxes.


The commercial tax department arrested a businessman identified as Dhanraj Singhal, a resident of Krishna Nagar in Ranbari area of Kota for allegedly evading taxes to the tune of Rs 36 crore, a vernacular daily reported. It is alleged that he runs seven firms and showed inward and outward supplies to evade taxes.


The CGST, Jaipur commissionerate arrested Rajkishore Agarwal, a resident of Royal Enclave in Vidhyadhar Nagar.


Both the businessmen were produced in court and sent to jails.
Some charted accountants were also arrested in the past few days for creating bogus GST bills and selling them to traders to help them avoid paying taxes.
