14-year-old girl commits suicide after gangrape in Dholpur

Jaipur: Two youths gangraped a 14-year-old girl at gun points in Basedi police station area of Dholpur district in Rajasthan. The matter came to light when the girl committed suicide by hanging herself in a room in her house. The family members and villagers got hold of a gangrape suspect, tied him to a tree upside down and then severely thrashed him up. The video of the suspect being punished by a mob has gone viral on social media.
The police have lodged an FIR against two men, identified as Bunty alias Manoj and Harikesh. While Manoj was handed over to the police by the family members, a search has been launched for Harikesh.
SP Dholpur visited Basedi area after the incident. According to the family members, they heard cries for help around 1 am on Monday. When they rushed to her room, Manoj and Harikesh were rushing out. They got hold of Manoj, while Harikesh managed to escape.
A few minutes after the incident, the girl committed suicide while the family members were dealing with Manoj. The infuriated villagers tied up the suspect and then beat him up severely.
The police have booked Manoj and Harikesh under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act. The senior police officers said that the chargesheet will be filed quickly after a thorough investigation and the accused men will be brought to justice.
