13 more test positive for COVID-19 in Ramganj; 1970 people quarantined at home
Jaipur: The number of Coronavirus cases in Jaipur has crossed even that in Bhilwara as 13 more people tested positive on Wednesday. The number of positive cases has gone up to 34 in Jaipur alone. Ramganj has now become the new epicentre of COVID-19 spread even as the administration is trying desperately to contain the disease. All these people contracted Coronavirus from the man who had earlier tested positive. He had returned from Oman and met over 200 people before he was quarantined.
No new case surfaced in Bhilwara by 2.30 pm on Wednesday. The number of cases in the district stands at 26.
“We have tested over 1186 samples in Jaipur so far. Thirteen people tested positive on Wednesday, taking the total number of cases in Jaipur to 34,” said an officer. Of the 33 districts in the state, 11 have reported at least one Coronavirus case with Jaipur and Bhilwara ahead of others by a large margin.
Of the 34 cases in Jaipur, 26 have been reported in Ramganj alone. Of them, 25 people contracted the disease from the 45-year-old man who returned from Oman.
Fearing the possibility of community infection in Ramganj area of Jaipur and Bhilwara, the authorities are taking several steps to contain the spread of the virus. A door-to-door survey is being conducted and restrictions on the movement of people are being imposed more strictly.
