1 kg gold hidden in rectum seized at Jaipur International Airport, smuggler arrested

Jaipur: The customs department has arrested a man who had hidden six gold biscuits in his rectum and was trying to smuggle them into Jaipur. He had arrived in Jaipur from Bangkok. The gold weights around 1 kg and is worth Rs 30 lakh in the international market, officials said.
The security personnel at the security check post in the airport got suspicious when they saw a man walking abnormally. A body scan revealed some metal in his body. A doctor was called to extract the gold.
“The smuggler had concealed the gold in his rectum. The gold was seized and the smuggler was arrested. We are questioning the man to get further details on the smuggling network he was part. We are yet not disclosing the identity of the smuggler,” said a source.
The officer said that the man will be produced in a court.
Many cases of gold smuggling attempts at Jaipur International Airport have come to fore over the past few months. Security agencies are keeping a close eye and are alert due to an increase in gold smuggling from Bangkok and other countries.
The officer said that further investigation is going on.
